Support of environmental initiatives

The Galychyna Company became a partner of the Circular Economy Hackathon, which took place this year in Kyiv. At the Hackathon, the company awarded the team that offered the best idea on the topic ‘Solutions and materials to replace plastic.’ It was the team of the Foodbiopack project.

The Foodbiopack is an innovative concept of biodegradable and environmentally friendly materials. They consist of natural and affordable food ingredients, after use the packaging can be comprehensively processed to obtain raw materials and use them in a closed production cycle.

Separate collection and processing of secondary raw materials

  • Polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is recyclable and reusable.. The sign of material processing is 1, this is indicated on the packaging.
  • Polypropylene (PP) is also recyclable and reusable. The sign of material processing is 5.

The company urges you to sort garbage and hand over plastic for recycling.

We recommend to rinse and dry the bottle after use. Squeeze the bottle to reduce its volume and screw on the cap. Collect used plastic bottles at home in a separate box, throw them in bins designed for plastic materials collecting.

Plastic challenge hackaton: solutions for plastic replacement and recycling presented in Sumy city

On May 27-28, the first Plastic Challenge Hackathon in Ukraine took place in Sumy city. As a part of the Hackathon, the participants proposed solutions regarding an ecological alternative to plastic packaging for the products of ‘Galychyna’ DC. As a special partner of the event, the company presented a monetary award for the development of an ecological idea to the winners. It was a team from Sumy National Agrarian University – FoodWastePack.


The members of the FoodWastePack team Tetiana Yarmosh and Dmytro Bidiuk have developed a comprehensive innovative solution for plastic packaging. The idea is to create edible biopackaging for food products using food waste and secondary raw materials. ‘The main advantage of our packaging is its 100% natural composition,’ said Tetiana Yarmosh, a student of SNAU. 


The organizers of the Plastic Challenge Hackathon note that they strive to unite the scientific and business sectors in the search for innovative solutions and support initiatives in the field of ecological alternatives to plastic creation. 13 teams from all over Ukraine took part in the Hackathon. The solutions concerned both the creation of completely ecological counterparts of plastic, and options for its applied reuse in everyday life. 


‘Our company keeps its finger on the pulse and follows global trends and solutions in the environmental sphere, in particular alternatives to plastic packaging. Unfortunately, there is currently no full-fledged replacement for plastic, that could meet all standards for the storage of dairy products, which is a problem and a challenge for the entire industry. However, we are glad that these issues are raised at the all-Ukrainian level and we support the initiatives of young scientists to get closer to innovative environmental solutions,’ said Oksana Andrushkiv, marketing director of the Galychyna Dairy Company.


The Hackathon took place within the framework of the project ‘Production and Dissemination of Circular Economy Ideas in Ukraine in Accordance with the EU Action Plan’, which is co-financed by the European Union.

Increase in energy efficiency of production by 40%: Galychyna presented its case at ‘ECOtransformation-2021’ environmental summit

On May 26, 2021, Galychyna DC took part in the ‘ECOtransformation’ online summit from the Ecobusiness Group company and presented its case for increasing energy efficiency in production by 40%.


The event took place for the fourth time and aims to promote and support business structures on their way to ecological and responsible production.


Yurii Bondar, the chief energy engineer of Galychyna Company, presented the ‘Insulation of Pipelines and Valves’ Project, which took place in cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH) as a part of the ‘Consulting Enterprises on Energy Efficiency’ Project.


«‘Since its foundation, our company has been constantly updating equipment and looking for opportunities to increase the energy efficiency of its production. Therefore, in 2019, we conducted an energy efficiency audit and found out that we need to insulate the steam pipes,’ said Yurii Bondar.


Such step helps to save 431.1 MW of energy per hour and improves the energy efficiency of production by 40.7%.


More than 60 Ukrainian and international companies presented their environmentally oriented projects at the briefing.
